Avast’s bug bounty program was launched over one year ago, and according to the IT security company, it has been a success. Now, Avast has decided to make some changes to the program.

To encourage security researchers even more, the company has doubled the rewards. For instance, up until now, the base payment was $200 (€147) per bug, but from now on, it's $400 (€294).

Furthermore, the maximum reward has been raised to $10,000 (€7,350) for one single submission.

Avast has also decided to remove DeepScreen and Sandbox escapes from the program because the company is “focusing on a new technology that should eradicate Sandbox escapes entirely.”

So far, almost one hundred submissions have been recorded. 25 of them have been rewarded with a total of around $10,000 (€7,350). The highest payment given out for one critical bug has been $3,000 (€2,200).

The rules and details of the Avast bug bounty program are available on the organization’s website.
