A new beta for Avast 2014 product line has been released. Apart from the many fixes included in this build the company announced that the products are now compatible with the upcoming Windows 8.1.

The developer informs that a fix for the firewall sometimes blocking the file downloads has been integrated in the new suite and that Web Shield is currently fully compatible with IPv6. On the same note, disabling Web Shield component should no longer create trouble.

The user interface for the statistics page has been redesigned in order to provide a clearer view of the information.

Some known issues still remain, such as Internet Explorer crashing occasionally and the Online Security plugin for Microsoft’s web browser not being ready at the moment.

Among the major features present in Avast! 9 is a new DeepScreen technology that allows the product to take a better action in the case of new or unknown files. This is actually the successor of the AutoSandbox component.
