Flavio Pereira de Oliveira proudly announced last evening (June 22nd) the immediate availability of the g:Mini 3.0, formerly known as GoblinX Mini Edition. Being powered by Linux kernel 2.6.27.6 and the XFCE 4.6 desktop environment, the g:Mini edition was designed especially for those who want to remaster the well-known GoblinX Linux distribution.

"This g:Mini edition includes the lastest Xfce 4.6 which brought several improvements and new features. Xfce-session now offers hibernate and suspend options. It has a new notification system with themes managed by Xfce-notifyd. Xfce-power-manager to help laptop users set up a power profile for two different modes ‘on battery power’ and ‘on ac power’. Gigolo to manage connections to remote filesystems using GIO/GVFS. A better Control Center and more." Flavio Pereira de Oliveira said in the official release announcement.

Highlights of g:Mini 3.0:

· Linux kernel was updated to version 2.6.27.6;
· Linux Live scripts were updated to version 6.2.9;
· Updated AuFS to version 1.89;
· Updated SquashFS to version 3.4;
· Updated XFCE to version 4.6;
· Added the following applications: GXine, Ucview, Claws Mail, Epdfview, Gigolo and Twitux;
· Removed the following applications: Nautilus, Leafpad, Totem, Ristretto, Squeeze and Evince;
· The HDD installer was greatly improved;
· Added all the locales;
· A new boot splash theme was added (also supports 800x600 screens);
· Support for xz packages was added;
· Gigolo was updated to start minimized;
· Duplicated software was removed;
· Totem was replaced by GXine (contains all the MPlayer video codecs);
· Improved usability;
· Added suspend and hibernate options;
· Added slapt:// support;
· Ikkes Volume Manager was replaced by Thunar Volume Manager;
· Mount points are now handled by HAL;
· The system clock can now display time and date;
· ...and many other small bug fixes and improvements!
