The sixth revision of Musix GNU/Linux was announced today by Marcos Guglielmetti and the wonderful people behind it. "This DVD is used daily in music schools, so we know what teachers and students need." - said the Musix Team in the release announcement.

Musix GNU/Linux is a 100% free Linux-based multimedia operating system, derived from Knoppix and Debian stable, designed for music producers, video editors and graphic designers, as well as for general users. The new release, Musix 1.0R6, has been tested for more than 3 months, and it has brought a lot of improvements, bugfixes and software updates since the previous release, Musix GNU/Linux 1.0R4.

One of the most important additions in Musix GNU/Linux 1.0R6 is the inclusion of an older Linux kernel, version 2.6.16 from Musix GNU/Linux 0.99, in order to support old hardware. Moreover, the fonts for the KNOPPIX installer were repaired and they look good now. Last but definitely not least, the following applications were backported: Ardour, Rosegarden, Linux MultiMedia Studio, MScore and Jack Audio Connection Kit.
