Last evening, July 22nd, the KDE community announced the immediate availability of the third release candidate of KDE 4.3, the next-generation KDE desktop environment for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X platforms. We believe that this is the last development release for the upcoming KDE 4.3 desktop environment and it is here to fix an important performance bug in Plasma. The final release is next, in one week or so, and when it will be launched it will definitely be the most modern, beautiful and attractive desktop environment!

"While 4.3 already feels very stable, there still have been quite some changes to the code-base since the second release candidate. In order to have the 4.3.0 release well-tested, the release team decided to put out another release candidate and postpone
the final 4.3.0 release by one week. The most notable change is probably a fix for a performance problem in Plasma, where applets would shortly freeze after being resized. This bug has been resolved by delaying the caching of rendered SVG images until after the resizing has finished." - was stated in the official release announcement.

Highlights of KDE 4.3:

· Integration of the Geolocation and PolicyKit services;
· New eye-candy effects;
· Revamped Run dialog;
· New Plasma addons;
· Lots of Plasma improvements;
· Updated applications;
...and many more bugfixes!

Currently the KDE 4 desktop environment ships with many packages, including web development applications, educational tools, administrative programs and more, all of which are available in over 50 languages.
