Toys are stuff that you offer to annoying kids to keep their mouth shut. OK, they may also be a reward for those who behave themselves. Well, if you're tired of buying hundreds of car replicas for your young lads, perhaps you may want to take a look at this toy
.
The Automoblox is a lego-like car that allows kids to combine wooden pieces and plastic pieces in order to construct a tiny car from scratch. Yes, they can also destroy the toy (oh, it rimes!). The creative side of this reconstruction action is supposed to stir some neurons inside the children's heads.
The device is actually the winner of Oppenheim Toy Portofolio Platinum Award. The thing combines heirloom quality and "old-worlds values with contemporary design". It's made of German beechwood and polycarbonate plastic. It's indestructible alright! Almost! The Automoblox is supposed to teach the young how to creatively solve problems, gross and fine motor skills and visio-spatial processing. Furthermore, the removable plastic connector improves the kids' ability to recognize shapes and colors. Other features include 12 large-spoked rims, low profile blue tires and a sweeping roofline.
All in all, it looks like a great gift for the kids. Automoblox comes in 3 similar kits: S9 Blue Sedan, C9 Red Sports Car and T9 Green Truck. Each model sells for $34, 95 (plus shipping fees).
