After having launched a worldwide contest to challenge designers to create an image that would be used as the new splash screen for SketchBook Mobile, Autodesk, Inc. has recently announced that the winning submission belongs to Luis Peso. Since it was one of the requirements of the competition, the 'Progress' design was created using a product from the SketchBook series, namely the app for iPad, and it was selected as the winner by the visitors on the dedicated competition webpage.

Though he works as a professional goldsmith/silversmith in Spain, Luis Peso enjoys drawing and sketching in his spare time, while also being a member of the International Association of Mobile Digital Artists.

“I’ve been drawing since I was a kid, and the transition to digital fingerpainting allows me to more actively engage in my passion,” the contest winner added.

In addition to proving their skills in operating Autodesk SketchBook software, such as SketchBook Pro, SketchBook Mobile, SketchBook Pro for iPad, SketchBook Designer or SketchBook Express, the contestants were simply required to upload their work before November 18th.

The submissions have been filtered until seven finalists from different countries were elected, leaving it to the public to decide the winners – thus, Phillip Gruhn with his “Surfacing Fish” came in second whereas Laura Lukauskaite’s “HooDoo” took the third position.

The Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Autodesk, Chris Bradshaw, said, “We congratulate Luis on his fantastic winning entry, and we were incredibly impressed overall by the diversity and creativity we saw from the members of the SketchBook community around the world who participated.”

The main purpose of this competition was to emphasize the great functions of these applications, while offering young artists the possibility to get exposure and recognition for their work.

Luis Peso's 'Progress' will be displayed on the splash screen of Autodesk SketchBook Mobile, a product that has already been downloaded more than two million times and will offer users the possibility to obtain great high-quality design from their mobile devices.
