Autodesk has released a Mac OS X preview of Inventor Fusion, which enables the creation of designs through intuitive direct manipulation tools.

Autodesk said their aim was to set a new standard for Assembly design. To do so, the company is giving users greater control over designs, without sacrificing productivity.

This technology preview hopes to make it easier to open and edit 3D models and incorporate them into new or existing designs. Needless to point out, testers are strongly encouraged to provide their invaluable feedback “[to] determine if we are correct in our thinking.”

“The team is interested in hearing from you on how the technology preview operates on the Mac platform. You can email your comments (good and bad) to [email protected],” said Autodesk’s Scott Sheppard.

“We enjoy hearing the good because it indicates that we should spend more time and effort on the technology. We enjoy hearing the bad because it helps us improve the technology. So silence is the only thing we're not that fond of,” Sheppard added.

The system requirements include Mac OS X v10.6.8 or later, a 64-bit Intel processor, 3 GB of RAM (4 GB recommended), 2.5 GB free disk space for download and installation (3 GB recommended), a 512MB graphic card (some solutions are not supported), and a 1280 x 800 display with true color (1600 x 1200 with true color recommended).

The supported graphics cards are:
