14 DAY TRIAL // Autodesk has achieved its goal of extending AutoCAD through the cloud to web and Apple portables by launching AutoCAD WS, a web application that uses cloud computing technology, and the AutoCAD WS iOS application, now available as a free download from the iTunes App Store for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, the company said in a report this week.
The AutoCAD WS mobile app for iOS enables users to view and work with AutoCAD drawings directly their iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
Customers use the touch and gesture support of their iDevice to accurately view, annotate, and revise drawings regardless of their location.
This enables customers to change the way they work in the field, or on the road, as AutoCAD WS reduces the need to carry around over-sized paper drawings, Autodesk Inc. believes.
Of particular importance are the editing features of the app, which enable users to tap objects to select, then move, rotate, and scale.
Users can draw or edit shapes with accuracy using Snap and Ortho modes, add text annotations directly on their device, validate distance measurements in the drawing while they are onsite at the actual location, and even save their edits to the AutoCAD WS online workspace.
