A young boy living with autism has been suspended from school after drawing a picture of a lit bomb.

He also allegedly told other children about having a bomb, and they reported it to a teacher.

Rhett Parham attends Hillcrest Middle School in Greenville, South Carolina, and he has explained that his drawing mimics an element of the "Bomberman" game.

The young boy was sent home on Monday and incurred a two-day suspension. His mother, Amy Parham, tells Fox Carolina that a meeting has been set after the school ruling on an indefinite suspension. The boy ended up only spending two days at home.

The suspension was lifted, but the board still agreed that sending Rhett home was the right decision. They argue that, although he is not violent, other parents might “perceive” him as such.

"They realized that his disability was the reason that he made statements and drew the picture, and that he had no malicious intent what so ever," Parham says.
