The Medal of Honor series has always lived in the shadow of the more popular Call of Duty franchise from Activision but with Warfighter, which will be launched during the fall of this year, the development team at Danger Close wants to impress the first-person shooter fan base with its focus on an authentic experience.

Rich Farrelly, who is the producer working on Medal of Honor: Warfighter at Danger Close, told CVG that, “That’s everything for us. I think that’s what separates Medal of Honor apart from the other guys.”

He added, “We take it very seriously. Without that, an interesting setting and story… we’re a floating gun in a world. At least that’s how we view it. It’s really important for us – that’s Medal of Honor’s identity. Respecting the soldiers and telling the story from their point of view.”

The story of Medal of Honor: Warfighter will focus on the character Preacher, known from the 2010 reboot, and will show how the veteran deals with his return home after his tour of duty and how his relationship with his family is strained by a new threat.

With Warfighter, Danger Close plans to go even closer to the Tier One Operator experience by getting advice from a number of Special Forces soldiers on everything from weapons and game maps to how they deal with their feelings and the stress of combat.

For the new game Danger Close is also working on the multiplayer side of the game, which in 2010 was handled by DICE, and being in charge of the entire experience will also allow the company to improve the authenticity level.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be launched during October on the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PC.

A new Call of Duty video game will be launched on the same platforms sometime at the start of November.
