Aussies can bet on the name of the new browser

Microsoft has already announced that it will bring a new browser in Windows 10 that would replace Internet Explorer completely and the company has even provided a codename for the project.

Spartan browser, which is expected to arrive on Windows 10 Technical Preview at some point in the next few months, is still under development right now and according to Microsoft itself, it is expected to get a completely new name by the time Windows 10 gets the go-ahead.

In other words, Spartan is just an internal codename, so we should expect the app to be called something else when the final version of Windows 10 is ready.

And because interest in Windows 10 is so high, Australian betting service SportsBet has decided to allow local gamblers to bet on the name of the next Windows version.

While this isn't really surprising given the fact that people these days bet on all kinds of things, it's actually more interesting to see the options that are available right now.

Browser Boss and Virusfree Explorer

As Mashable writes, Spartan is believed to have the biggest chances to end up being the name of the next browser, with odds currently at 7.50.

But those who have more money than God go for riskier and pretty impossible options such as Browser Boss, Internet Gateway, XP, or Vista. And if you really want to have fun and throw your money out the window, you can bet on Bill Gates II, Internet Tourist, Virusfree Explorer, and Google II, with the latter's odds increasing to 501.00.

On a more serious note, Spartan is very likely to be the name of the new browser because users really seem to like it.

Suggestions posted on Microsoft's UserVoice platform require the company to keep the Spartan moniker for the final version of the browser, which according to sources could replace Internet Explorer completely in some versions of Windows 10, while in enterprise SKUs, it might be offered alongside its predecessor for compatibility reasons.
