According to a document released to the court, three of the 18 suspects arrested last week in Sydney and Melbourne were stopped and questioned in December 2004, when driving near the city's nuclear facility.

According to Guardian Unlimited, the men also had an off-road motorbike and claimed they were there to ride.

The alleged Sydney
terrorist group is composed of these three persons: Mazen Touma, Mohammed Elomar and Abdul Rakib Hasan, along with five other.

"We believe ... we've disrupted a large-scale operation which, had it been allowed to go through to fruition, we certainly believe would have been catastrophic", New South Wales State Police Commissioner Ken Moroney told Australian television on November 8.

22 properties were raided by 400 police and intelligence officers, after PM John Howard had said last week that there were extremists living in Australia and that they were planning a terrorist attack.

The explosive chemicals discovered are similar to the ones used in the July 7 attacks in London, Ken Moroney stated.
There are some suspicions that the extremists were planning a major attack on the Australian nuclear power plant.
