An Australian man who was supposed to get married in February showed up at his own wedding so drunk that the minister refused to perform the ceremony.

Musician Jacob Francis Brookes was arrested at the Exeter Uniting Church, in the suburbs of the Australian city of Adelaide, following an altercation with reverend Ian Hunter, who refused to go on with the wedding ceremony claiming that the groom was too intoxicated.

The 41-year-old man had his buck's celebration the night before the wedding, but denied he was too drunk to go through with the marriage.

“I had three beers, two Jamos [Jameson Whiskey], two shots of Jamo - that's not drunk,” he told reporters yesterday.

“I regret choosing [reverend Hunter] as the marriage celebrant at my wedding and I had my buck's night the night before, bro. I mean, come on, we're all men here,” he added, trying to justify his state at the wedding.

Brookes appeared in court this week on charges of disorderly behavior and resisting arrest.

After the failed ceremony, his intended bride broke up with him, but he now says that he still hopes to win back her heart and convince her to marry him.

“I miss her to bits ... she’s always in my heart,” the man said
