TransGrid decides to make the move to newer software

Microsoft will soon retire Windows XP, so some organizations across the world are a bit in a rush to start the transition to newer platforms such as Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Such an example is the Australian electricity provider TransGrid that has decided to upgrade its internal computers from Windows XP and Office 2007 to Windows 7 and Office 2010.

ITNews writes that the transition will begin in November and absolutely each of the 1100 workers in Sydney, Newcastle, Tamworth, Orange, Yass, and Wagga will make the move to the new platforms.

While it’s not yet clear if the transition will be over until April 8, 2014 when Microsoft plans to officially discontinue XP, it’s still a good thing that some organizations actually get to hear the tech giant’s message and abandon the 11-year-old OS.
