While the skinny models ban is still functional, meaning that the designers know that some say that they shouldn't put size 0 models on the catwalk because it sends off the wrong message, this is what comes out of all the publicity.

Last week, the controversial French designer Jean Paul-Gaultier took a stand against said ban, first applied at the Madrid fashion week, and had Velvet on the catwalk, wearing nothing but a very revealing black nightgown.

Velvet could be hardly classified as the regular model, that woman we are so familiar with: long legs, no breasts, drawn face and a walk that makes people believe she is about to break in half. On the contrary, she was quite a super sized beauty queen.

A week before that, we talked about a model that came on the catwalk wearing something like a pair of knitted short shorts that fully exposed her buttocks. This week, we thought we have seen it all. Until... this came along. Apparently, this photo was taken during one of the fashion shows held in Paris.

I have one thing to say: is it me or is the ban overlooked? Then: is this what people want to see when they attend such a show? Ribs? Death-pale face and dark brown circles under the eyes? The embodiment of starvation?

Maybe Gaultier was right when he said that the models do not shape lifestyle with the way they look, but viceversa. If that be the case, maybe we should all ask ourselves towards which direction our culture is heading if it managed to 'create' or 'give birth' or whatever to such a walking corpse and promote her to the status of 'beauty queen'.

While you ponder on that, I'm out to get a sandwich. Just in case I learn this girl's name... I'll have it sent to her... Although she does look happy, doesn't she?
