Carli Richards argues that it was James Holmes who shot her, not the president

Only recently, Megadeth's Dave Mustaine set loose quite the conspiracy theory, claiming that the shooting which took place in Aurora, Colorado just one month ago, during a screening of 'Dark Knight Rises,' is part and parcel of Barack Obama's plan to get people to agree to his anti-gun agenda.

“Back in my country, my president, he's trying to pass a gun ban, so he's staging all of these murders, like the 'Fast And Furious' thing down at the border; Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there; and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple,” he said during one of his performances.

Although most people hardly ever take Dave Mustaine seriously when he start making his often utterly absurd claims, Aurora shooting victim Carli Richards decided to step up and defend President Barack Obama, working on the assumption that, as a person directly involved in and affected by the incident, she has a lot more perspective than Megadeth's frontman might have.

“Some people think the President is a good scapegoat but he didn't shoot me. It’s obviously kind of absurd and people who make up conspiracies just want attention,” she told members of the press.

Being one of the 58 people who survived the shooting, Carli Richards is fully aware of the fact that, “Everybody is emotional at this time and needs to blame somebody I guess,” reports The Hollywood Gossip.

Still, “I don’t think they realize the consequences of not being responsible for your own actions and James Holmes needs to be held accountable for his, to whatever way the justice system deems fit.”

Truth be told, we doubt that Dave Mustaine voiced his conspiracy theories simply because he wanted some attention, as there are other ways to get under the spotlight and Megadeth's frontman is pretty much familiar will all of them.

Still, Carli Richards does have a point when saying that James Holmes need be held responsible for his actions and be punished according to the law.
