A couple that survived the Aurora theater shooting in Colorado have decided to tie the knot on the anniversary of the horrific attack.

Eugene Han and Kirstin Davis had been dating since 2010 and attended the screening with several other friends, ABC News reported.

They got seats near the emergency exit in the theater, and saw gunman James Holmes enter and throw a gas canister into the crowd, with a gun strapped to him.

They were shot at and Han took two bullets trying to protect his girlfriend, one to the hip and the other to the knee. They eventually managed to make a run for it though a cubbyhole.

While I think that tying the date to their wedding anniversary does give them a reason not to dread it, I do believe that this pair will always connect what should be the happiest day of their lives to their worst day.
