The iconic outfit that appeared in the most memorable image in the movie industry, the little black dress Hepburn sported in the opening scene of 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', is to be sold for a charitable benefit.
The current owner of the dress, Dominique Lapierre, announced that she plans to auction it in December at Christie's and the money collected is to be donated to City of Joy Aid charity, in support for the needy in Kolkata, India.
Estimates show that the charity hopes to get up to £70,000 for the famous clothing item.
The dress was designed by Hubert de Givenchy who, back in 1961, was Audrey's personal stylist and it had to be fitted especially for her small measurements.
Hepburn plays Holly Golightly in the movie 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', adapted from Truman Capote's novel of the same name.
The beautiful actress passed away from colon cancer in 1993, at the age of 63. But, prior to her demise, she had been an active campaigner and goodwill ambassador for UNICEF for more than four years.
