This headset goes in the USB port and not in the sound card

If you've been playing FPS games for a long time you probably hate sneaky players. I'm talking about the guys who always sound invisible. Being able to hear your enemy's footsteps and gunfire is probably one of the most important aspects in preparing an attack or in preparing to die with virtual dignity.

So, in order to detect the extremely skilled and sneaky "ghost dogs", you probably need a good sound card and some headphones. Well, the sound card is not necessary anymore. Introducing Tritton Technologies's newest headphones: the TRI-UA51 2 AXPC USB (or Audio Xtreme PC), a follow-up to Tritton's previously released AX360 gaming headphones. Tritton's new stuff brings some interesting features. Here it goes.

The chief "ingredient" is what Tritton is calling a support for "True 5.1 Surround Sound" via an array of 4 individual speakers that are found in each speaker of this pair of cans. And here's the bogus feature: you don't even need a sound card to use Tritton's AXPC headphones. That's because the headset goes in the "compulsory" USB port and not in the sound card. This probably means that you will never buy a sound card again, right? Why not?

Each individual speaker will be "tweakable" via an in-line audio controller. The left ear cup will also sport a removable microphone for chatting in-game or for talking using VoIP applications.

Tritton's new gaming headset is presumably suited for Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, Mac/PC and DVD players. Audio Xtreme PC gaming headphones are available today from Tritton's distributor network. You can buy the snappily-named TRI-UA51 2 AXPC USB for $80, or even cheaper if you know where to dig. I can't hear or see how this peace of equipment is going to please the most emphatic professional gamers.
