Kanye West’s public image takes another hit as 2009 audio of epic rant emerges online

At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West simply walked on stage while Taylor Swift was holding her acceptance speech after winning Best Video, taking her microphone from her hand to say that Beyonce should have won.

Even though so much time has passed since then and Kanye has already apologized for it at least 5 times (counting interviews and social media), the audio recording obtained by Gawker will probably reopen that can of worms and cost him even more fans.

Presumably recorded after the awards gala (that would be in September 2009) during a dinner party with friends, the leaked audio has Kanye ranting against Taylor Swift and Pink.

He tries to explain why Taylor should have never won and even invokes his dead mother’s name, and expresses real anger that he wasn’t asked to perform over Pink, whose song he doesn’t even know.

“I’m pushing the envelope! I wrote my [expletive]-ing ‘Run This Town’ verse for a [expletive]-ing month! When I heard Eminem’s verse on the Drake [expletive], I went back and rewrote my [expletive] for two days. I canceled appointments to rewrite! I [expletive]-ing care! You know what I’m saying? And that’s what I’m saying,” he says.

“Because I did that, Taylor Swift cannot win over Beyoncé! Because I wrote my verse in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyoncé. As long as I’m alive! And if I’m alive, kill me then! Kill me then! As long as I’m alive, you gon’ have to deal with it. ‘Cause there ain’t gonna be no more mother[expletive]-ing Elvises with no James Browns,” Kanye rants.

His fixation with the verse stems from his objection to the Taylor Swift’s lyrics, which he initially deemed (in a blog post that he deleted hours after he posted it online) a bit too silly.

In the same audio, as noted above, he also goes off against Pink, offering his conviction that she should not have performed for the mere reason that her song hadn’t yet reached his ears.

“What the [expletive] was Pink performing? Don’t nobody know that song. Pink performed twice! Two songs? How the [expletive] Pink perform two songs and I didn’t even get asked to perform ‘Heartless.’ ‘Heartless’ is the biggest song of the year! It had the most spins of the first quarter! I don’t know that Pink song!” Kanye says.

Gawker couldn’t confirm if that’s really Kanye on the audio but, if you give it a listen, you will probably find out for yourself. It’s here. *Discretion is advised.
