Following Abilene Christian University's "connecting" its students and teachers, Oklahoma Christian University (OC) is also issuing
Apple products to those who register with them, or return to school to continue their studies. What's even better is that those who already own a Windows laptop can exchange it for a
MacBook.
"In the spring of 2007, a group of educators,
technologists, and administrators at ACU crystallized these ongoing discussions, producing a case for a new emphasis on mobile learning based on ubiquitous information access through powerful, portable, converged devices. Made possible by the broad capabilities offered by a new generation of these devices, we see the future of the university coalescing around the new opportunities that mLearning is bringing,"
ACU's website reveals.
Oklahoma Christian University, however, is offering even more to its students. Those who register with them will also have the option to choose from an iPod touch or an iPhone, depending on their needs and desire to activate with the associated service provider ,which will enable them to learn more actively, through mobile-accessible class materials, podcasts and more. Add that to Wi-Fi accessibility across the whole campus and I'll bet some of you are seriously considering to get back in school or, as a high school senior, attend Oklahoma Christian.
"In addition to the MacBook, the University will be able to offer students an option of either an Apple iPhone or iPod touch," says OC. "The University is providing this option with the understanding that some students will not want to activate the iPhone with the associated service contract and costs, while others will prefer the iPhone and the added capabilities."
Upon accepting to be handed an iPhone, as a student you will be responsible for the activation of the iPhone with the service provider.
