Alicia Hessler was attacked by Gabriel Urena after refusing to have intimate relations, being left with a broken nose and a concussion. The woman believed there would be a better way to teach the man a lesson than just dragging him into court, so she came up with an innovative idea to shame him enough to make him repent his sins.

The assault on Ms. Hessler happened after the two met on a night out clubbing and decided to have a quiet moment in the car. Urena started groping Alicia and when the woman saw he wouldn't stop at her inquiries, she struck him, leading to an anger beating from the man's side. The attacker repeatedly hit and punched Alicia leaving hear in need of medical treatment.

The woman filed a police report against her brutal aggressor but told him she wouldn't press charges if he wore a sign reading “I beat women. Honk if I'm a scumbag” for eight hours in a public place, according to The Huffington Post. Alicia wanted to teach her attacker a lesson, that he wouldn't have got in jail, so she took matters into her own hands.

When she decided that the police wasn't fit enough to handle the issue, she contacted Gabriel on Facebook and proposed a different approach. Ms. Hessler told the offender she wouldn't press charges if he agreed to wear a dunce cap and an embarrassing sign in the corner of the street for eight hours.

In his attempt to avoid jail, the man agreed to Alicia's terms and after the so-called punishment, he allegedly said that he had learned his lesson and decided to change his violent ways.

Experts in the field of domestic violence don't really agree with this kind of approach, having a hard time believing that vigilante acts are more effective than actual time behind bars, notes The Huffington Post. Hopefully, this particular lesson had at least the slightest effect on the violent man and the eight hours of embarrassment weren't for nothing.
