Atomos has made available firmware version 5.02 developed for its new Samurai Blade field recorder, which adds numerous new features, fixes and improvements.

Specifically speaking, the release enables the clear overlay function when WFM and Monitor Assist settings are shown, and WFM size change touch zone in the bottom right of the screen when in playback mode.

Moreover, it changes the blank screen with a “No input” image display, and adds Canon 5D Mark III input color correction option so that it can properly record SMPTE Rec 709.

As for fixes, the firmware ID is now shown correctly, the video input button problem that sometimes was disabled for interlaced modes is resolved, and occasional unit lockup when browsing large folders in playback mode doesn’t occur any more.

In addition to that, RGB Parade accuracy is enhanced, GUI elements are refined, and the occasional flicker is now history.

When it comes to installing the package, simply copy the firmware file from within the downloadable archive onto a formatted drive, insert it into the recorder, and power it up.

When it boots, color lines will flash on the screen (do not restart the device because this is normal), meaning that the firmware is installing. Once complete, the Samurai Blade will shut down – and that’s all (however, it would be a good idea to check that the update is successful).

That being said, follow the link below, and download the firmware file needed in this process.
