Atomos has released a new firmware package targeted at its Samurai Blade recorder, namely version 5.11, which includes a few changes that improve the device’s overall performance and usability.

Specifically speaking, this fresh update modifies the QuickTime vendor field from “ATMS” to “APPL” in order to improve compatibility and fixes an issue regarding the pulldown feature that now re-locks when camera cadence changes frame (avoiding various artifacts).

In addition to that, version 5.11 also resolves a problem with the 3:2/2:2 pulldown option where a black line occasionally appeared in the video.

As for installing this release, simply get and extract the downloadable archive, copy the “ATOMBLD.FW” file onto the root folder of a compatible memory card, turn off the recorder, and insert the memory drive into the Samurai Blade.

Now, if you power the unit back on, the recorder will automatically recognize the new firmware and initiate the upgrade process. Bear in mind that, during the installation, flashing lines of color might appear – this is normal, so don’t power off the device.

When the update has finished and the recorder has powered off, remove the memory card and check to see if the new firmware has been applied properly by going to Menu → Samurai Blade Info → AtomOS Version.

That being said, download AtomOS Samurai Blade Recorder Firmware 5.11, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, apply the new version, and check with our website constantly to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
