The new package includes several fixes that should improve the device’s overall stability

Today, Atomos has released a new firmware update developed for its Ninja Blade recorder, namely build 5.11, which includes a few changes that enhance the unit’s overall performance and stability.

Specifically speaking, firmware 5.11 fixes the 3:2/2:2 pulldown issue where a black line appeared occasionally on the right side of the video and modifies the pulldown behavior which now re-locks when camera cadence changes (this helps avoid various artifacts).

In addition to that, an auto-detect feature for all HDMI Camera Start/Stop triggers has been added to the recorder’s functionality, the trigger options are changed to “HDMI” or “None/Timecode,” and the QuickTime vendor field is now switched from “ATMS” to “APPL” for an improved compatibility.

If you intend to apply this package, get and expand the archive, copy the firmware file onto the root folder of a compatible memory card, and insert it into the recorder (make sure it’s powered off).

Now, if you turn on the Ninja Blade, the device will automatically recognize the new version and start the update process, during which flashing color lines might be displayed – this is normal, so make sure you don’t power off the device.

When installation has completed and the recorder has powered off, remove the memory drive, turn the device back on, and check the currently installed firmware to ensure that the upgrade has been successful (Menu → Ninja Blade Info → AtomOS Version).

That being said, download AtomOS Ninja Blade Recorder Firmware 5.11, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, apply the new release, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
