With Intel having so eagerly announced the upcoming collection of laptops based on the Atom N550 dual-core mobile processor, Gigabyte decided not to wait, so it brought out the T1005M, a convertible tablet of 10.1 inches with multi-touch support.

Intel's announcement was made only a short while ago and was quickly followed by the appearance of the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3.

Gigabyte, naturally, will not fall behind so it developed the T1005M convertible tablet that has, according to a report made by Notebook Italia, become available for pre-order in Australia.

For those interested in a reminder, a convertible tablet is a mobile PC whose screen can rotate, so that it may allow for the switching between the notebook and the tablet form factors.

The aforementioned dual-core of 1.5GHz lies at the PC's heart, is backed up by 2GB of RAM and is paired with the Intel GMA (graphics media accelerator) 3150 integrated graphics.

This video solution will have full control over the 10.1-inch display whose maximum resolution is of 1,366 x 768 pixels.

What's more, the screen itself is outfitted with capacitive multi-touch capabilities, so that direct input may be possible when the device is used in its slate form factor.

Furthermore, to address whatever storage needs one may come upon, a hard disk drive (HDD) of 320GB is available, as is a 4-in-1 card reader.

Needless to say, Gigabyte threw in all of the obligatory connectivity and I/O options, including a 1.3 megapixel webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, an Express Card slot and a 3.5G module.

Other assets listed on the order page include an USB 3.0 connector, two USB 2.0 ports, eSATA and a D-Sub output.

Finally, the device is kept operational by a 6-cell battery (41Wh, 7650mAh) and is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium. Pre-orders can be set here, for $905 (800 USD).
