The individuals behind Quit Coal Initiative have started a dialog to increase the level of awareness regarding Menhaden's critical situation.

It seems that this creature is known as the one of the most representatives species of fish which form the Atlantic ecosystem, since it represents a significant source of food for the entire ocean wildlife.

Its presence is also decisive for companies that turn Menhaden into cat food, without acknowledging its importance to the entire ocean food chain and its potential substitutes in the industry.

The main objective of this strategy is to preserve the ecological role of menhaden. Scientists are worried that, in less than 25 years, the maximum spawning potential of these fish has declined by 88%.

Needless to say that the survival of Menhaden is now questioned and now seems like a good time for Atlantic States Marine Fisheries to reevaluate their importance and actually provide effective measures to protect their evolution.
