It's been a while since we last discussed bad taste gem-customized Apple devices, so after stumbling upon this Limited Edition iPhone 3G from Knalihs Athem, we thought why not take another swing at the subject?

After all, Apple news has been rather boring lately. Everyone's going up and down about third party software updates, which is really just another way of saying "nothing exciting happening in the world of Apple products".

So, the Limited Diamond Edition Apple iPhone 3G, as its name implies, is a diamond-encrusted iPhone 3G. The kind celebs such as P. Diddy and the likes carry around with them. "The Apple iphone 3G is three products in one," says Knalihs Athem. According to the maker, it is "a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough internet device with rich HTM email and a desktop-class web browser," which has absolutely nothing to do with the diamonds.

There's some info on those too, however. Particularly the fact that "Swiss luxury designer and Jeweler Knalihs Athem creates exclusive limited edition diamond encrusted mobile phones of world renowned brands like Nokia, Apple, Samsung and others. We endeavor to take luxury and mobile technology together to the highest level. At Athem we call it 'Redefining Luxury'," the Athem official site reveals.

Handset owners can upgrade an already-pimped device to another diamond-encrusted mobile phone simply by selecting a mobile phone from Athem's existing product line. Users must, of course, return their old diamond-encrusted mobile phone to the company. Athem will either reuse the diamonds from the old phone, or will replace them with equal value of diamonds and encrust them on the phone you've selected from the product line.

All diamond mobile phones are individually handcrafted and will take between two-four weeks for delivery, Athem says. "There may be instances where due to overwhelming demand the delivery time could get extended." You will be provided with a confirmed shipping date on the order confirmation.

Apple iPhone 3G Limited Diamond Edition costs around $12,000. Only 50 such handsets will be made and sold worldwide.
