The country's first ever atheist monuments has been erected in front of a courthouse in Florida.
According to K Pop Starz, the American Atheists organization unveiled the monument over the weekend in Bradford County.
The plaque was built as a response to a Ten Commandments slab being placed in front of the public building.
As I wrote, the atheist group sued the county to have it taken away, but instead won the right to build a second monument next to it.
"When you look at this monument, the first thing you will notice is that it has a function . . . we selected to place this monument in the form of a bench," David Silverman, president of American Atheists, explains.
The monument aims to promote the notion that you don't have to be a Christian to do good deeds, and hints that the money spent on churches could be used to build hospitals.
