It doesn't take a rocket scientist to acknowledge the capabilities of the iPhone after holding it in the palm of your hand for as little as two minutes. With the introduction of the iTunes App Store, Apple hit another home run by offering the world's most diverse and advanced mobile application venue. Atari's president, Phil Harrison, is now here to laud Apple for its accomplishments with the iPhone.

In the autumn of 1974, Steve Jobs began attending meetings of the Homebrew Computer Club with Steve Wozniak. He later took a job as a technician at Atari. The duo came out with a game called Breakout, and a circuit board for it. Breakout proved popular, while the genre has remained addictive to this day. Therefore, Atari recently released SuperBreakout for the iPhone and iPod touch, a spinoff of the original.

With the game out on the iTunes App Store, Atari president Phil Harrison took a moment to credit Apple for the amazing gaming platforms that are the iPhone and iPod touch. In Harrison’s own words, Apple's devices are "leading the global charge in innovative handheld technology and changing the way we consume and interact with media. This is the first step in bringing Atari's wonderful heritage of games right up to date for the iPhone generation."

Atari's president added that the new iterations of the company's titles were "true evolutions of the original hits, with completely revamped visuals taking advantage of the hi spec screen, and innovative gameplay mechanics making full use of the unique MultiTouch interface and features of iPhone and iPod touch for immersive arcade action."

Using the accelerometer and the Multi-Touch technology, Apple's iPhone and iPod touch have spawned somewhat of a model for returning game titles, one that combines casual gameplay features with hardcore elements, enabling users to pick-up-and-play instantly, but also to immerse themselves in what the games have to offer.
