The Smartphone has been FCC approved

Wireless carrier At&t will be adding a new smartphone to its lineup, getting a new Amoi smartphone that was recently FCC approved.

It's obvious that it will be heading towards At&t right from the start, since the handset sports the carrier's branding on the front. Also, this is the second partnership between China's Amoi and the wireless carrier.

There's not exactly a lot of information on its specs, but what's clear is that it will come with a 2 megapixel camera, a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion and most likely EDGE.

It's another one of those handsets the market seems to be filled with, offering a QWERTY keyboard for easy and convenient messaging and document editing.

Also, it is said to come with Windows Mobile 5.0 which is very awkward in a time when most handsets come with the new version of the OS, but it should be upgraded to the latest Windows Mobile 6 when available.

This should be At&t's upgrade from the older SMT5600, thought to be one of the best smartphones that was released in the US, before it made its unexplainable exit.

The handset seems to be pretty slim and convenient for carrying around. And regardless of what else its spec sheet will include, it's going to be a brand new smartphone that At&t customers will be able to choose.

While the device has been approved by the Federal Communications Commission, and this should mean that it's going to be shipping sometime soon, there's no available info on the actual release date, nor on the pricing.
