Cingular Wireless, now the new At&t, is offering its customers the possibility of using Push To Talk on a pay-per-use basis.

The customers that are using one of several mobile phones will be able to use the company's PTT service for $.15 a minute.

The wireless carrier has so far sold approximately two million mobile phones with PTT including the Blackberry Pearl,
several LG and Samsung models and the Motorola V365.

As of now, the PTT pay-per-use is charged per minute and begins the moment the PTT button is pressed to initiate the session, up until the end key is pressed to end the call. If the user will not press the end key, the call will automatically time out after 30 seconds.

Customers will also receive several enhanced PTT features that aren't available on similar services provided by other carriers including unique icons that allow users to see whether other users are available for a call, the possibility to convert a PTT call to a regular wireless voice call or voice messaging to one person or a whole group.

"Business and consumer customers across the country have been enjoying the enhanced features of our Push To Talk service for more than a year," said Carlton Hill, executive director of voice products for the wireless division of AT&T. "This offer gives others the ability to easily enjoy interacting with friends, family or business acquaintances using the service."

The service uses a single number for both cellular and PTT service and will be available for at&t's wireless unit customers for an unlimited monthly PTT plan for $9.99 per line.

Customers on family plans can select a $19.99 feature that provides unlimited access to the service for up to five family members while businesses can add the PTT option to each line for $9.99 a month.
