Windows 8.1 isn’t here yet, but authorities across the world have already made plans for its deployment, with the Parramatta City Council preparing to install the new OS version right after launch.

The Australian authorities have announced that Windows 8.1 would be installed on laptops and tablets, while desktop computers are scheduled to receive the update sometime in the coming weeks.

"This announcement today signals the start of what we hope is an ongoing, long-term partnership with Microsoft that will not only improve our own internal efficiencies, but also lead to more positive community outcomes," Parramatta City Lord Mayor John Chedid was quoted as saying by ZDNet.

The council has a total of 750 employees, so Microsoft can be sure that at least 1,000 users will get the operating system minutes after launch.
