Eee PC enthusiasts, rejoice, as more new photos of the upcoming Eee PC with Intel Atom heart have made their way on the web. While early adopters rushed to snatch an Intel Celeron model, the upcoming Eee PC will not only bless late customers with a brand-new breed of chips, but it will also come in a sleeker computer case.
According to French tech website
Blogee, the Atomized version of the popular UMPC features the same ports, slots and physical size as its Eee PC 900 siblings, except for the fact that the design teams at Asustek added a couple of swishes and brushes to the initial design.
The new casing is all painted in white and there are no details on whether this would be the only available SKU, although it is expected that Asustek will launch a full set of colorful 901 models.
In fact, it seems that Asustek has drawn its design inspiration from one of the most popular competitors on the UMPC market, namely the MSI Wind. The touchpad also seems to have undergone a little redesign, so now it is aligned with the laptop's casing. Moreover, the leaked pictures also show a new screen-hinge with chrome-like ends, as well as a slimmer keyboard with a couple of extra keys.
The 900 MHz Intel Celeron M processor has been replaced with the more powerful Atom processor that is expected to be unveiled during the Computex show. Nothing is official yet, but Asustek hinted that it would officially introduce the new Atom-based beast during the same Computex trade show in Taipei.
Previous versions of the Eee have sold in millions of units since their introduction and the company expects to double its sales for the Atom-based device in the first months since its introduction. However, the UMPC market is getting crowded this summer, as many major notebook manufacturers, Dell included, have announced their own models.
