The Taiwanese computer manufacturer Asustek is not at all modest. Recent success in dominating the low-end notebook PC market made the company estimate their next year sales at 5 million
new Eee PCs worldwide. The laptop manufacturer estimated global laptop shipments of 120 million units for the industry next year.

Vice President Kevin Lin said that Asustek was selling around 20,000 Eee PCs per month and estimated that, next year, the company would sell about 3 million units of the Eee PCs. Due to the increased demand of the product after its official launch, the company had to re-estimate the sales for 2008.

Asustek's Eee PC sells at dazzling rates worldwide, and the company estimates that they will be able to get a bigger share on the market with the advent of the low-cost notebook. Currently, Asustek has less than one percent share of the North American market.

The Eee PC will bear Asustek's brand name, as the company imitates the Acer strategy in order to create a strong brand with global recognition. "Our target is to ship, among various brand name technology devices, 5million notebook personal computers next year," a company official said. At the same time, Asustek is hoping to climb the commercial ladder and become the fifth largest laptop PC vendor by 2010.

The shopping season has surprised the Taiwanese company, since the production can not keep up with the amazing demand from the specialized IT market. The stores deplete their stocks of Eee notebooks as soon as they hit the shelves.

The heavy demand of notebooks made Amazon and Newegg declare the product as "Sold Out". If you really need a Eee PC, the last chance to find it is on eBay, but beware: you may have to pay for a unit almost twice the official retail price.
