Asustek has just announced its latest addition to the G series of notebooks, a 17-inch gaming rig that comes with a dual structure across its major system components, such as dual graphics engine, dual hard drive bays and dual fan systems.

Introduced during this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the new notebook promises to move gaming from the high-performance desktop system to a mobile and elegant system. The G70 is opening a new trend in mobile gaming thanks to its high-definition visual and audio capabilities.

The portable gaming platform is built on two independent Nvidia 8700M GT graphics cores with full support for Nvidia's SLI technology. The graphics cards come each with 512 MB of GDDR3 memory, which allows gamers to play even the most resource-hungry gaming titles.

The G70 notebook is designed to host two 2.5-inch hard-disk drives for a whooping 640 GB of storage space. Users can stuff inside the sleek notebook case up to two SATA hard-disk drives in either 2 x 250 or 2 x 320 GB configurations.

The system is powered by Intel's Core 2 Duo, and Core 2 Extreme processors for maximum performance in gaming or hardcore computing tasks. The processor's performance can be directly controlled via the user-friendly Direct Console interface. The software lets users choose between pre-set performance levels such as Standard, Turbo and Turbo Extreme.

According to the company, the dual-hardware combination scores no less than 8,116 points in the 3DMark 2006 benchmark tests.

The notebook also sports a 17-inch WUXGA (1920x1200) Full HD display with an 8-millisecond response time to prevent blurring or ghosting. The LCD panel is backlit using a dual set of lamps that offer an increased brightness ratio. More than that, the notebook sports a secondary panel built on the Direct Messenger technology that displays critical system information in real time.

Other hardware specifications include 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, an optional Blu-ray writer, 2-Megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, Gigabit Ethernet and an 8-cell battery pack. There is no word on pricing on availability yet.
