Not long after the previous AsusWrt-Merlin Firmware 376.44 Beta 1 was released, the developer has rolled out a new custom beta version targeted at the same ASUS routers, namely build 376.44 Beta 2.

In terms of compatibility, this update can be applied regardless of the operating system and only on ASUS’s RT-N66, RT-N16, RT-AC68, RT-AC66, and RT-AC56 units, as well as on the newly-released RT-AC87 wireless device.

This fresh update adds HFS+ support for the RT-N16, RT-N66, and RT-AC66 routers, implements RT-AC87U report regarding the LAN port 4, and resolves various miniDLNA problems with Philips Smart TVs.

In addition to that, this second beta also fixes the SSHD brute force protection that wasn’t working when Dual WAN was enabled and set to LB mode, updates the RT-N66U driver to ASUS’s 1071 build, and resolves the incorrect state report of port 1 on the RT-AC87U unit.

Moreover, the miniUPNPD error flood in syslog caused by the use of a Plex server on LAN is now resolved, and the RT-AC87U router gets its port order that was wrong in the sysinfo page resolved.

With this in mind, if you consider updating your wireless device, then download AsusWrt-Merlin Firmware 376.44 Beta 2 for the appropriate router, install it on the unit, and enjoy the benefits that this release brings about.
