At this year’s CES fair, Asus plans to introduce at least a new Android tablet sporting a 7-inch display which could presumably arrive in the same Transformer line as the highly popular 10.1-inch Transformer Prime.

A picture of this tablet was posted on the Notebook Italia website, and shows a device that takes most of its design cues from the Prime despite its smaller screen.

Right now, Notebook Italia doesn’t seem to know if the image that entered into its possession actually depicts the 7-inch Eee Pad Transformer Prime Mini or an upcoming Asus tablet called the Eee Memo Pad.

According to rumors, if the device pictured is actually the Memo Pad then this should include a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core SoC, 16GB to 64GB of Flash storage memory, 3G and WiFi connectivity and should run the Android OS (the exact version wasn’t mentioned butt we expect Android 4.0, aka ICS).

The Memo Pad is expected to become available in two versions, one of which will feature a 3D display.

Other details are not available at this point in time, but fortunately CES 2012 isn’t that far away, so more info should be available soon.

Asus has launched the 10.1-inch Transformer Prime in mid-November, and the quad-core tablet has become a huge success shorty after.

Despite the good reception from both the public and industry insiders, the Transformer Prime has faced an important number of availability issues that aren’t expected to be resolved until later this month.

As most of you know, the Transformer Prime is built around a 10.1-inch IPS screen and Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC paired together with 1GB of RAM, and also packs a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera, an 8MP rear snapper as well as either 32GB of 64GB of Flash storage.
