Computer maker Asus is getting ready for the release of a new Android-based device on the market in India, none other than the Asus Fonepad that was made official in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The company did not offer specific info on the launch, but it has already started to tease the device, both on Facebook and Twitter, a post on fonearena claims.

The Fonepad will arrive on shelves with a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 CPU inside, as well as with a 7-inch IPS touchscreen display on the front.

The device should hit shelves with phone capabilities packed inside, although Asus is expected to launch only the Wi-Fi-enabled version in India in the beginning, with the 3G and Wi-Fi variant set to hit the market soon after. More info on this should emerge soon, so stay tuned.
