Motorola Moto G and Moto E, Xiaomi Mi3, Asus Zenfone 5 are among the most popular Android smartphones released in the last couple of months in India.

The Indian smartphone market has a huge potential, but none of the companies that released the handsets mentioned earlier was ready for the high demand for their smartphones.

Xiaomi is struggling to fulfil the requests of more than 150,000 customers each week, but the Chinese company only managed to bring between 10k and 20k units for each sale since the Mi3 was launched in India.

The same goes for Asus Zenfone 5. The mid-range smartphone is selling like hot cakes in India, as Asus had to replenish stocks on a regular basis and there’s still a huge demand for the Zenfone 5 in the country.

According to Asus, “being sold out within first four days of launch with selling 40000 units, the Zenfone series stocks have been refilled numerous times till date and are being restocked at regular intervals.

“Asus is confident that with the online medium, authorized offline partners and extensive presence pan India, they will be able to complement the incredible responses that they are receiving for the entire Zenfone Series which is very competitively priced.”

With that being said, Asus has recently confirmed that no less than 20,000 Zenfone 5 units are now available for purchase in India via Flipkart. Only the 8GB version of the Zenfone 5 will be available at Flipkart beginning today, August 18.

Keep in mind that Asus Zenfone 5 is exclusively available in India via Flipkart. The smartphone can be purchased for only Rs 10,000 ($165 / €120) outright and it’s available in multiple color options (black, white, gold and red).

For your information, the Zenfone 5 ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and is powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor.

The phone’s decent CPU is complemented by a PowerVR SGX544MP2 graphics processing unit, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory that can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD memory card.

Asus confirmed that the Zenfone 5 would receive an update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, but did not share details on exactly when the update will be available.

It’s also worth mentioning that Zenfone 5 sports a vibrant 5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

An 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording is included as well, along with a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and self-portraits.
