The update is pushed OTA (over the air), in stages

Asus has been struggling to release Android 5.0 Lollipop for some of its most popular smartphones, Zenfone 4, 5 and 6, for quite some time now.

The company released a beta build a few months ago and promised to offer the final build in April and then in May. Last week, a new rumor emerged that Asus might have delayed Android 5.0 Lollipop for these three Zenfone smartphones for around three or four months.

Well, it looks like these rumors weren't accurate at all since Asus has just released Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for Zenfone 4, 5 and 6.

The update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, but those who own these smartphones can also download it manually from Asus' official website.

Moving on to changes, Asus states that Android 5.0 Lollipop does not support some pre-installed applications.

Some apps will be removed after the upgrade

So, once you upgrade to this version of Android, the following apps will be removed from your Zenfone smartphone: Battery widget, PhotoFrame widget, Movie Studio, Cloud Print, CMClient, and Magic Smoke Wallpapers.

Keep in mind that Asus Zenfone 4 and 6 will also lose the Google Text-To-Speech application, in addition to those above, if you decide to upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Another thing that you should be aware of is the fact that this upgrade is likely to cause some problems to Asus Contacts widget.

According to Asus, those who upgrade will see that the Asus Contacts widget will always show as “loading” on the home screen. In order to fix this issue, you will have to remove the old 4 x 1 Asus Contacts widget and re-add it.

The same solution should work if your information from the 4 x 3 Asus Contacts widget disappears after upgrading to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
