14 DAY TRIAL // Asus Zenfone 2 is one of the most controversial smartphones announced earlier this year at Consumer Electronics Show 2015 (CES), but in a good way. The Zenfone 2 was one of the main highlights at CES due to the low price.
Asus announced the smartphone's price will start at $200, but it won't probably get you the 4GB RAM version.
The Zenfone 2 comes with more than decent specs and an excellent price, but Asus has decided to go even farther than this and introduced a 5-inch edition of the upcoming smartphone.
The official name of the smartphone is unknown for now, which is why we refer to it as Asus Zenfone 2 5-inch Edition. The information comes via Asus-Zenfone blog site and offers some pictures of the new device put against the Asus Zenfone 2.
Unfortunately, aside from the fact that it comes with a smaller 5-inch display and Android 5.0 Lollipop with Zen UI on top, nothing else is known about the new Asus Zenfone 2 smartphone.
The 5-inch Zenfone 2 will feature lower specs, but cheaper price too
The 5-inch display supports HD (720p) resolution, but it’s unclear what chipset will power the smartphone. However, it’s almost certain that the Zenfone 2 5-inch Edition will come with less than 4GB of RAM inside, probably only 2GB.
We expect most of the other specs to be similar to the standard Zenfone 2 smartphone. The 5-inch version has been especially designed to be pocket-sizeable, so that those who don’t like phablets can take advantage of a powerful Asus smartphone at very low prices.
Speaking of which, the 5-inch Asus Zenfone 2 will be cheaper than the original version, though we’re not sure by how much.
Considering the 5-inch device hasn’t yet been announced by Asus, it’s hard to say when it will be available on the market. We do know that the standard Asus Zenfone 2 will be launched in Taiwan on March 9.
