Computex 2015 technology trade fair has just kicked off and at least two companies announced lots of products that will be launched on the market throughout the year, Acer and Asus.

We have already reported about the newly announced Zenfone Selfie, a camera-oriented version of the Zenfone 2, but Asus also introduced a new lineup of tablets.

The ZenPad series is supposed to replace the old MeMO Pad family. During its Computex 2015 conference, Asus announced that three ZenPad tablets will be launched on the market in the coming weeks.

They come in different display size: 7-inch, 8-inch and 10.1-inch. However, the most powerful seems to be the ZenPad 8.0, which will be available on the market soon for a price that will be announced closer to launch.

As the name suggests, the tablet sports an 8-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution (4:3 aspect ratio) and 324ppi (pixel per inch).

A real competitor to Apple's iPad Mini ?

Asus ZenPad 8.0 is only 6.6mm thick, weighs 298g (battery included), and features a metal body. Also, customers can purchase the Z Stylus, which is available as an option accessory.

On the inside, the ZenPad 8.0 is equipped with a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 chipset and no less than 4GB of RAM. Other highlights of the tablet include front-facing stereo speakers, along with DTS audio technology.

The tablet will be available with either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB internal memory, but there's no mention of microSD card slot for storage expansion yet.

Asus also confirmed that its powerful ZenPad 8.0 will drain energy from a 4,000 mAh non-removable battery, which has yet to be rated for continuous usage.

When it comes to software, the ZenPad 8.0 will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop onboard, along with Asus Zen UI on top. Stay tuned for more details on Asus ZenPad 8.0 pricing options and availability.
