Asus Updates Eee Transformer TF101 to Fix Android 4.0 ICS Issues

Earlier today, Asus started rolling out a new firmware update for the original Transformer tablet, the TF101, which is supposed to fix the issues experienced by many users after the Android 4.0 update.

This latest update bumps the tablet’s software to v9.2.1.17-20120312 and has already reached some users in the UK.

Sadly, despite Asus’ promises, the new firmware doesn’t appear to have done much good, as some Eurodroid readers and a few commenters on the Asus UK Facebook page complained that the new software revision doesn’t fix the many issues the ICS update introduced.

While definitely disappointing, we can’t say that we are surprised by this piece of news, since Asus’ mobile division doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to updating its tablets to Android 4.0.

my tf101 ran perfectly fine prior to the update. thanks for screwing it up Asus. i have been reading comments from Asus that not all customers experienced the problems reported. probably because their devices have not been working for several days like mine. now that it has come back up, the background screen is orange and grainy, very hard to read, and is very disappointing. Should have stuck with the professionals and purchased an IPAD...or rename this one IPos

Had 1 reboot but after latest update my tf101 is running so so sweet but hey I look after mine, well done Asus as this fault is with ICS even on xoom they have had similar probs so people need to put the blame where its due, could get an Ipad and burn your knees , latest said 116 degrees perhaps its an Icooker.

I have had similar issues since the ICS update. My tf101 was running just fine. Now it restarts on its own, Netflix does not operate correctly, the screen flickers, it freezes up at times. It's pretty much a POS. I'm honestly very disappointed in this product.
I can't even tell you how many times I have done a hard reboot to see if the problems are resolved without any success. The customer service is very rude and nasty. I hate to even sell this to anyone. I am trying to research about what protections does a consumer have when purchasing an expensive product that does not even work properly.

No question people are more apt to take the time to write a review when they have a gripe as opposed to when they don't. In my case, i couldn't be more thrilled with my Transformer even after the update. I'd like to think that i represent the many thousands (millions?) who have nothing but positive things to say about this tablet and the current update. Of course i'll speak up if things go awry.
