The evolution of modern technology has made it possible for notebooks to have some really super-slim form factors, while in the same time delivering a level of autonomy that users could only dream about a couple of years ago, some of the latest examples we've come across being the U41JF and U31 laptops from Asus.

So, what really makes these portable systems stand out from the crowd is the fact that they can reach functioning lives of up to 10 hours (when equipped with 8 cell batteries), which is something really noteworthy.

Plus, they manage to do so in quite an elegant manner, their frames being under an inch (25 mm) thick and featuring quite an attractive finishing and design, including a chiclet keyboard and a metallic looking palm rest, a small strip between keyboard and monitor that has an attractive textured look, as well as a glossy black bezel around the LED backlit monitor.

As those of you out there who're really familiar with the Asus product line-up might have guessed, the U31 and U41 laptops are 13.3″ and 14″ machines, both featuring 16:9, 1366 x 768 resolution, on lower power LED backlit displays.

They also come equipped with mobile Core i3/i5 CPU options, ASUS’ Super Hybrid Engine, 802.11n Wireless and Gigabit Ethernet.

Apart from size, the main difference between the U41JF and the U31 laptop is the fact that the U41JF manages to fit an Nvidia graphics card, the GeForce GT 425M with 1GB of dedicated DDR3 memory, which also means the U41 has power saving Nvidia’s Optimus technology too.

While specific details regarding the pricing for these new ultra-slim, ultra-portable machines from Asus have not been provided, we'll sure to find out more on this topic in the near future, as these laptops are set to become available across all markets in the near future.
