To make the wait for Ice Cream Sandwich easier for the owners of the original Transformer tablet, Asus has released a new firmware update for the slate that fixes a couple of issues encountered by its users.

These focus mostly on some HDMI troubles encountered by Transformer owners when using the tablet with some newer HDTVs, but also bring a series of stability and input lag reduction fixes as well as a series of updated apps.

As AndroidOS.in reports, the update is identified as 8.6.5.21-20111216 and has apparently started to be sent out over-the-air a few days ago for users in the US, UK, Taiwan, Germany and tablets with generic WW SKU.

The roll-out is said to be taking place in stages and it could be the last firmware update to arrive for the original Transformer before Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, will start to be pushed out.
