With the Android 4.0 update for the Transformer Prime out and about, Asus has now moved its attention towards the original Transformer tablet, the TF101, which is said to get ICS by early February.

The update seems to be ready, but it still has to be approved by Google, according to Asus Singapore (who was cited by Android Police), thus availability is scheduled for the end of this month.

Transformer TF101 owners living in North America and Taiwan will be the first ones to get the Ice Cream Sandwich update.

So there you have it. Asus’s original Transformer may not have the glamour of the new Prime and its quad-core Tegra 3 chispet, but from a software standpoint the two tablets will be almost identical, while the TF101 also comes with properly working GPS.

Can't wait! Will the update have to be downloaded manually or will it be an automatic update?
