Those of you wanting to get a Transformer Prime and hack it to your heart’s desire seem to be out of luck as it was recently uncovered that the Asus tablet won’t accept any custom ROMs.

This is because the Prime actually comes with a locked bootloader that is also encrypted using an AES-128 key for added protection, as the guys from the XDA-Developers forums have uncovered.

In layman’s terms this means that even if the tablet can be rooted, there isn’t any simple way to install a custom ROM on it.

While this definitely isn’t a problem for most of you out there, those who planned to take full control of their Transformer Prime seem to be out of luck as that locked bootloader will definitely get in the way until Android hackers find a way to bypass it.
