A lot of speculation about the Transformer Prime release date has come our way since Asus’ official introduction of the 10.1-inch Android tablet, but now the official launch date have been uncovered thanks to an Asus rep.

According to an unnamed company spokes person cited by the Netbook News website, Taiwan will be the first country to get the tablet on December 1st.

The next region on Asus’ list is North America where it seems like at least the US will get the Prime starting with December 8th, while European users will have to wait until January to get their hands on the 10.1-incher.

According to the cited source, the exact release date in each European country will depend on the local sales and distribution and we tend to agree with this as we heard some rumors that suggested the Transformer Prime will arrive in some EU countries until the end of this year.

As many of you know, the 10.1-inch Transformer Prime is powered by Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 SoC that is paired together with 1GB of RAM, an GPS, a gyroscope, SonicMaster audio and a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera.

The rear 8MP resolution camera comes with auto-focus support, an f/2.4 lens, a back-illuminated CMOS sensor, and is capable of recording 1080p video (a sample is available here).

Together with the tablet, Asus will also release a keyboard dock (the original Asus Transformer dock isn't compatible with the Prime) which adds another six hours of running time to the tablet's 12 hours battery life estimate.

The basic Transformer Prime model comes with 32GB of storage space and can be upgraded via a microSD slot, but users also have the option of going for a beefier 64GB Prime.

Asus’ Transformer Prime is already available for pre-order from a series of Websites in the US, Canada and Europe with prices starting at $492 (363.5 EUR).
